Laherte Frères was created in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte on the village of Chavost. The different generations expanded the family estate from 5 hectares to 10 hectares. Christian and Thierry Laherte are the two brothers in charge of the production nowadays. Their ambition is to produce Champagne that reflect all the single plots owned by the family, converting some vineyards into biodynamic culture. Some of the vines are over 70 years of age, which is very rare in Champagne. In the cellar, the aim is to take time, respect the grapes and produce Champagne with the perfect balance.
100% pinot meunier containing 50% reserve wines. A blend of 30% macerated meunier, 60% white wine (immediately pressed meunier) and 10% still red meunier. Fermentation in vat, foudre and barrel with partial malolactic. Dosage 2g/l.
The old-vine meunier brings intensity to the bright raspberry and redcurrant aromas, and provides remarkable persistence on the palate. Fairly dry with a delicate mousse and gentle tannins, this is a rosé with plenty of personality and capacity to develop over the next several years.
