Celine Fontaine has effectively taken over the running of the estate. She runs the winemaking along very traditional lines , using native yeasts to ferment the must and ages the wine in used oak for 12 months. The Caillerets 1er Cru site is one of the best sites in the commune producing long lived wines from this chalky soil.
"The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru has a very harmonious bouquet, fine mineralité and terroir expression and touches of oyster shell infusing the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with a rounded texture. There's a fine silver bead of acidity here, a little richer in style, fanning out marvelously on the finish. This is excellent."
