André Bonhomme was one of the first growers in Macon to bottle and sell his own wine and was a driving force in getting Viré-Clessé recognised with the Appellation Controlée in 1998. Today the 11ha estate is run by his daughter and son in law. The estate is undergoing conversion to organic viticulture and Cuvée Speciale comes from parcels of vines of up to 70 years old.
