Lointier is based in the western part of the Vallee de la Marne in the village of Crezancy. Production is tiny with a mere 4000 bottle per year produced. A true 'garagist' the cellar is located beneath the house. Farming is artisanal and intimate, with organic and sustainable practice to the fore to the exclusion of all chemical treatments.
Vinification takes place in a variety of wooden barrels, amphorae and vats with spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention, the wines are then bottled unfiltered and unfined to keep their purity and energy.
Mellifera, named after a bee species, is a blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Menunier, aged for 11 months after fermentation in used barrels for depth and complexity. There are aromas of fragrant red fruits with a hints of the undergrowth; on the palate it is intense and vibrant. with a deep savoury finish.
