The wines of Sylvain Pataille from Marsannay appeal to a lot. We first encountered his wines in a natural wine fair in caves in Saumur. They were pristine and pure. They possessed a unique energy. He now consults as an enologist in some of the leading estates in the Cote d'Or. He coaxes the individual character of each lieux-dits into each wine. The 2017 vintage was a generous vintage after the frost dramatically reduced the harvest in 2016 .
"Still in barrel, unracked. A complete and even purple. The nose is balanced and stylish with great intensity. The fruit is ripe enough to offer a floral aspect. Seamless, effortless, still a baby, with perfect proportions and a very long dark fruit finish. Drink from 2030-2037."
