Martin and Marion Gojer have established quite a cult following for their use of old indigenous varietals and for their hands-off methodology. The wines are natural and they farm their 4h/a estate biodynamically. This 95% old vine Schiava gets 12 months in old barrel followed by 10 months in concrete before bottling with very low SO2. They use about 30% whole bunch. Ironically they are not allowed to use the Campill appellation name which is reserved for non-indigenous varietals such as Cabernet and Chardonnay. These are light delicate wines with a surprising intensity or power on the finish. They are also a refreshing 12% ABV with a wonderful perfume of ripe red fruits.
