When many of the producers of the Marche region of Italy were following those of Tuscany and Veneto in the 80's and 90's and were pulling up native vines in favour of the international varities , Tenuta di Tavignano were planting more Verdicchio on the best plots of land they had. Today this has turned out to be an inspired choice, with the estate being one one Italy's most prolific and respected producers of Verdicchio.
