As one of the oldest wineries in Austria, Schloss Gobelsburg has several historical vineyard sites, with different soil and micro-climatic conditions. These range from the sun-exposed terraces on Zobinger Heiligenstein and the Gaisberg mountain to the extensive garden facilities around Gobelsburg castle. The monks of the Zwettl Monastery, who managed the winery until 1995, used organic fertiliser, abstained from employing herbicides, and aimed to reduce the use of plant protectants.
"The 2024 Zöbing Kamptal Riesling is intense and saline on the slightly reductive or at least discreet but deep and layered nose. Fresh and savory on the first palate, this is a youthful, finessed and persistent Riesling from young vines rooting in the Heiligenstein grand cru. We can taste the exceptional terroir here, at least its finesse and elegance, yet still not its depth and complexity. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork."
