Maxime Graillot collaborates with Thomas Schmittel in working these un-grafted Syrah vines in Crozes Hermitage. They are planted in .2h/a of sandy soil , hand harvested, destemmed and aged in 3 year old Stockinger casks for 11 months. The goal, which is certainly achieved , in my opinion, is to have a wine that is very expressive of the site rather than the elevage. This is only 13% ABV. It is elegant, fresh and has the Syrah typicity of black olive tapenade, spice and wild blackberries. A very rare opportunity to taste a wine from un-grafted vines.
