Rodrigo Mendez makes not just great Albarino but also much rarer Galician reds. Forjas des Salnes began as a garage winery in 2005 and was named after the ironworks set up by Rodrigo’s grandfather. To understand the true potential of the grapes Albarino, Caina, Espadeiro and Loureira Tinto and the region Rias Baixas it is simply essential to taste these wines.
"The 2020 Goliardo Espadeiro shows a lot of finesse and elegance. They started picking the grapes at different times, and the wine has gained in precision. The vines ripen at different times, and they are marked and harvested separately. It has no green notes; its floral and perfumed, with 12.3% alcohol and notable freshness.
