Fontodi is one of Chianti's leading producers. Their vineyards are located in Panzano's amphitheatre-like Conca d'Oro (Golden Shell) which has a reputation of being the best zone in Chianti Classico having perfect exposure and elevation. The wines here are always elegant and refined, and we are particularly fond of their 2018 vintage which is 100% Sangiovese aged in French oak barriques from vineyards which are organic and biodynamic. This wine has an abundance of black cherry notes with fine grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Although delicious now, this will be one for the cellar as well.
