The Valle D'Aosta is the most mountainous region in Italy. It's on the Swiss border on the slopes of Mount Blanc. The vineyards are the highest in Europe at up to 1,200 metres. The vines are so remote that they were never exposed to Phylloxera and remain ungrafted. The grape is Prie Blanc and there is only 40 h/a of the varietal remaining most of which is in this commune. The organic grapes are harvested by hand, fermented in stainless steel and are suitable for vegans.
