Stephane Bernaudeau learned the trade of winemaker from one of the Loire's leading lights, Mark Angeli of Ferme de la Sansonniere, where he learned how meticulous farming and low yields could produce fantastic dry Chenin Blanc in Anjou, a region with a reputation for sweet wines.
Les Coqueries is a small plot in Thouarcé, Bonnezeaux Hills. The wines is a dry Chenin Blanc (No Botrytis or Residual Sugar) and labelled as Vin de France. The vines are on average 35 years old, manual harvest, vertical press, indigenous yeast and fermentation in 228L Barrels (Mostly 3 or 4 wines old barrels). Low sulfites additions just before bottling.
