Brothers Francesc and Joan Ferré’s family have been growing grapes on their organic farm for over 200 years. Based in Corbera d’Ebre, way up in the hills of Catalonia west of Barcelona, they’ve been making their own wine since 2009 and have the family’s commitment to sustainable and organic viticulture deep in their DNA. Working at altitude with old vines means the brothers have a fantastic opportunity to make wines with a true sense of place.
With minimal intervention, they are continuing the family tradition and succeeding with their range of Garnacha, Cariñena and Garnacha Blanco. All work in the vineyards is organic and done by hand, the grapes are fermented with natural yeasts and fermentation is allowed to take a natural curve where nothing is forced. Garnacha in particular has an aversion to too much wood, so élevage is done in a mixture of stainless steel and used barrels, depending on the wine.
