The legendary Castello dei Rampolla is a place with many souls. The holistic approach to farming is all about balance, respect of nature and her rhythms. Despite this deep connection with the Panzano terroir, Sangiovese here is not the main player, and Cabernet Sauvignon and other international grapes are on the front stage. The wine making is reflecting the farming philosophy, with a similar light-handed attitude: spontaneous fermentations in neutral vessels (lot of concrete and clay) and a non-invasive, judicious and elegant use of oak. This multifaceted approach is the brainchild of Luca Di Napoli Rampolla and his sister Maurizia, two free thinking spirits, and the result is a collection of elegant, juicy, robust and incredibly long-lived wines that defy any categorization.
