Chateau Peybonhomme-Les-Tours
Chateau Peybonhomme-Les-Tours, Cotes de Blaye and Chateau Grolet Cotes de Bourg are two right bank estates run by 5th generation wine makers Catherine and Jean Luc Hubert. When curating our portfolio the greatest challenge was to find affordable Bordeaux wines that reflected our vision. Bordeaux has such a strong brand that it is relatively easy to make a mediocre wine and sell it under the banner of ‘Bordeaux’.
It is a region that is on the margin of the ideal climate for grape growing and suffers in most vintages from dampness and less than perfect conditions for healthy grape growing. Chemical treatments can mean the difference between a failed crop and a good crop. The achievement of Catherine and Jean-Luc in farming biodynamically while producing authentic affordable wines is all the more praiseworthy.
Their wines are amongst our best Bordeaux wines at under €20.00. The Peybonhomme uses approx. 70% merlot about 5% more than Grolet and is a rounder more supple wine as a consequence. The Grolet has more structure using 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and has more cassis character with a bit more tension.
