The name 'Isole e Olena' came about in the 1950s when two adjoining estates, 'Isole' and 'Olena', were purchased by the De Marchi family and combined to form one. The history of both estates dates back many hundreds of years, and the earliest documentation of the village of Olena goes as far back as the 12th century.
In 1987, Paolo De Marchi grafted Chardonnay onto existing vines on the Isole e Olena estate. Since then they have produced some of Tuscany’s finest Chardonnay.
"The Isole e Olena 2023 Chardonnay is softly textured and rich with cooked apricot, baked apple, breakfast pastry and light spice. It is fermented and aged in oak with fruit from a dedicated six-hectare plot with a mix of calcareous marl and galestro shale, soil types that lock in freshness and perfumes. This is always a standout Tuscan white wine thanks to its pure intensity and carefully measured mid-weight intensity."
