Frédéric Lafarge and his wife Chantal, née Vial, purchased 4h/a of various plots in Beaujolais in 2014. They had 8 years of intense work before their efforts were fully rewarded in this the 2022 vintage. The wines are made using grapes biodynamically grown, about 25% of which are whole cluster. They are aged in used barrels from their Volnay domain. The results are 'old school' Beaujolais wines capable of lengthy ageing.
"From the steep blue stone and granite slopes of Mount Brouilly comes the 2023 Côte de Brouilly. This wine reveals tangy flavors of cherry, blueberry and lilac contrasting harmoniously with its underlying firm, structured core of defined, youthful tannins. The medium to full-bodied wine digs deeper, revealing invigorating flavors of graphite and black pepper that enhance its tension, suggesting it would benefit from some additional time to relax."
