Matías, is a native Argentine born in Cafayete that has travelled and harvested at countless wineries around the world. For over a decade he has been collecting experience and now is dedicating himself to learning as much as possible from the various terroirs of Mendoza he now looks after. His father, Jorge Riccitelli, was the first Latin American to be elected "Winemaker of the Year 2012" (Wine Enthusiast) and without a doubt is a huge mentor for his son's fresh enthusiasm. The Winery is settled in the heart of Vistalba, in the region of Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. Today Riccitelli Wines manages 20 hectares, divided in three different vineyards at the foot of the Andes Mountains between 980 and 1120 m.a.s.l. Most of those vineyards were planted at beginning of 20th century. It doesn’t stop there though, he also makes a few wines even higher up down in the Patagonia.
Tinto de la Casa is a blend of Malbec parcels from Las Compuerats and the super premium, Gualtallary, where vines sit at 1400m above sea level, and the grapes grow thicker skins to cope with the UV rays. This results in a rich, concentrated wine, where ripe fruit is balanced by the acidity naturally retained at high altitude. It's a complex, full bodied Malbec with floral, blackfruit and spicy notes and super smooth tannins.
