Matías, is a native Argentine born in Cafayete that has travelled and harvested at countless wineries around the world. For over a decade he has been collecting experience and now is dedicating himself to learning as much as possible from the various terroirs of Mendoza he now looks after. His father, Jorge Riccitelli, was the first Latin American to be elected "Winemaker of the Year 2012" (Wine Enthusiast) and without a doubt is a huge mentor for his son's fresh enthusiasm. The Winery is settled in the heart of Vistalba, in the region of Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. Today Riccitelli Wines manages 20 hectares, divided in three different vineyards at the foot of the Andes Mountains between 980 and 1120 m.a.s.l. Most of those vineyards were planted at beginning of 20th century. It doesn’t stop there though, he also makes a few wines even higher up down in the Patagonia.
"The serious, elegant and impressive white 2021 Old Vines from Patagonia Semillon is the seventh vintage from the same vineyard. It fermented and matured in foudre, fine-tuning viticulture and yields, fermented with some skins. It matured with the lees for some eight months. It has 12.5% alcohol and a lot of acidity but is milder than the wines from La Carrera in Mendoza; they have been adjusting yields and picking date to achieve a fresher and umami white with life and energy and year in bottle. Austere, honed and representing the place it comes from"
