“Terre Nere’s wines all possessed unbelievable freshness and complexity as well as huge perfumes that suggested Pinot Noir…These wines are astonishingly complex and ethereal efforts from the hillsides of Mt. Etna in Sicily.” – Robert Parker
The Nerello Mascalese is grown in volcanic and extremely rocky (black pumice and solid volcanic rocks) on the northern slope of Mount Etna at an altitude of 600 to 650 metres. The vines are on average 20 years old and undergo a spontaneous malolactic fermentation and ageing in French oak barriques, tonneaux and big barrels (10% new oak). They are bottled after 14 months of wood ageing and 1 month in steel.
It’s a rich ruby with purple hues wine that on the nose gives notes of intense flowery and fruity (red young fruits) bouquets with joyous and fresh flavours that are yet deep and elegant.
