The Volnay village (15 barrels in 2022) comes from approx. 10 different plots in Volnay, 2 of
which are on the hillside.
A nose of depth, hinting at a wine of complexity. On the palate this is simply delicious. Open
and melting. Lots of concentration, but not weighty. It is a seductive, juicy wine made with 20%
new oak and having considerable hedonistic appeal. This is a classic, yet modern, Volnay, with
low SO2 and hence a beautiful expression of fruit – it leaps from the glass. Not a big or complex
wine. There is sweetness from the fruit, which exhibits terrific ripeness, and, as Pierrick would
have it, it is perfectly balanced. A real joy and offers ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ fruit pleasure. From
vines that average about 50 years of age. Alcohol is 13.5%
