Pedro M. Rodríguez Pérez started this project by picking up a family winemaking tradition that dates back to 1886. Previously the family made wine for their own consumption and sold to local cantinas. A meeting with enologist and family friend Luis Buitrón convinced Pedro to estate bottle their wines. To do this, the winery, which was renovated in 1991, has opted for traditional, artisanal and ecological production. All of this work was recognised by the prestigious Parker in 2008, and since then Guímaro wines have become an international benchmark of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra.
'Camino Real' is a blend of mostly Mencia with other local Galician varieties from a number of sites. Spontaneous fermented and aged in foudre and oak barrels, Camino Real is bottled unfiltered and unfined. It is an elegant and fresh wine, with juicy red fruits, floral notes and wonderful mineral background.- Wine Advocate
