Nestled in the hills of Radda in Chianti lies one of the greatest microclimates of Tuscany. Recognising the importance of the sangiovese grape, in the late 1970s Sergio Manetti made history by refusing to add trebbiano to his blend and turned his back on the Chianti Classico appellation. Today, one of greatest and most traditional wines in the region of Chianti is not technically a Chianti.
Thought of in the same breath as the 'Supertuscan's', there is no foreign grapes used here. Only Sangiovese with small amounts of Colorino and Caniaolo make the wines.
