Pedro M. Rodríguez Pérez started this project by picking up a family winemaking tradition that dates back to 1886. Previously the family made wine for their own consumption and sold to local cantinas. A meeting with enologist and family friend Luis Buitrón convinced Pedro to estate bottle their wines. To do this, the winery, which was renovated in 1991, has opted for traditional, artisanal and ecological production. All of this work was recognised by the prestigious Parker in 2008, and since then Guímaro wines have become an international benchmark of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra.
'Finca Pomberias' is made with grapes from a single small plot situated on an almost 50% incline. Needless to say, everything is done by hand. Whole clusters are fermented, in open vats and then aged in used french oak for a year. This is a spectacular wine, a wine of elegance and freshness, with layers of aromas, textures and complexity. A real triumph of winemaking, with only 800 bottles made.
