Pedro M. Rodríguez Pérez started this project by picking up a family winemaking tradition that dates back to 1886. Previously the family made wine for their own consumption and sold to local cantinas. A meeting with enologist and family friend Luis Buitrón convinced Pedro to estate bottle their wines. To do this, the winery, which was renovated in 1991, has opted for traditional, artisanal and ecological production. All of this work was recognised by the prestigious Parker in 2008, and since then Guímaro wines have become an international benchmark of the D.O. Ribeira Sacra.
'A Ponte' is the family's oldest vineyard, though it was replanted about 15 years ago in a traditional field blend. The wines is made of 30% Mencia with the rest comprising equal parts of 5 native galician varieties. It is a serious and complex wine, needing tine to fully express itself. Juicy and vibrant, with spices and flowers on the nose and palate it is a deep and complete wine.
