Join us from 6:30pm on Thursday the 12th of October, for a tasting of the wines from the Island of Sicily, home to wine making since approximately 4000BC. Guiding us through this will be Colm Douglas.
Sicily is an island of contrasts, with terroirs ranging from the practically alpine around Mt Etna, combined with magnificent volcanic soils, to the lower altitudes and hotter climate of the Southeast, around Cerasuolo di Vittoria to the Southwest city of Marsala, famed for its fortified wines. And while international varieties are prominent players in the grapes that are planted, it is the indigenous grapes like Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Nerello Mascalese, Cataratto, Carricante and others that have excited wine-makers, critics, sommeliers and winelovers alike. So please join us, as we explore this exciting and fascinating winemaking region and its wines.
